Schwinn Sponsors Chicagoland Bicycle Federation's “Bank of America Bike the Drive” for Fifth Year

4/9/2007

Schwinn is pleased to once again sponsor the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s popular “Bank of America Bike the Drive” event, taking place Sunday, May 27 on Chicago’s car-free Lake Shore Drive.

This is the event’s fifth year, and Schwinn has been the exclusive bicycle sponsor each year, raising funds for local bicycling advocacy.

“Schwinn is pleased to be a sponsor for this amazing event,” said Schwinn Senior Marketing Manager Chris Holmes. “The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation does great work for bicyclists throughout the region, a former longtime home for Schwinn, and we’re proud to partner with this worthy cause.”

Starting at sunrise, 20,000 participants will ride through Chicago’s famous Grant Park, and past some of Chicago’s most iconic structures including Buckingham Fountain, the Hancock building, Navy Pier and the Field Museum, just to name a few.

“We are excited about having sponsors that align themselves with our mission, not just with the event, but also with what we are trying to accomplish," said Rob Sadowsky, Executive Director of the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation. "We are proud to partner with a bicycle manufacturer that has a longstanding relationship with the City of Chicago and the Great Lakes region.”

Stop by Schwinn’s booth to see new bike models and pick up some great Schwinn Schwagg.

Bank of America Bike the Drive registration includes four hours of biking supported by hundreds of volunteers, an event T-shirt, access to three rest stops and a fun festival after the ride. Registration is now open at www.bikethedrive.org. Bank of America Bike the Drive supports the advocacy work of the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation.
